ATEX originates from the 2014/34/EU directive (Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres) in the EU CE certification system. When the hazard environment containing flammable gases or explosive dust, the regulations require the fans should not produce sparks, which may cause ignition and explosion. This type of fan is called an Explosion-Proof fan.
